The Go For 2 + 5 Fruit and Vegetables Campaign is conducting a competition to find the school canteen that produces the healthiest food for its kids, and Olives SA is right there backing it.

Olives SA has donated a two litre cask of extra virgin olive oil (value $25) to every school canteen in the state, so that they stand a better chance of winning the Go For 2 + 5 Fruit and Vegetables Competition.

This is great news for school kids because;

Extra virgin olive oil is a natural fruit juice and it contains all the same sort of ‘goodies’ that one finds in other fresh natural fruits.

Extra virgin olive oil is made entirely naturally, by simply crushing the olive fruit and pressing out the oil. Making extra virgin olive oil does not require the use of any nasty chemicals or solvents.

Extra virgin olive oil has been recognized by the American Food and Drug Administration as being so good for our health that it is now allowed to carry a claim to this effect on the label. No other food oils have been allowed to do this!

While fruit and veggies are essential for good health, some of their ‘goodies’ are only soluble in fats! Unless you consume a fat like extra virgin olive oil these compounds will pass straight through the body and be lost.

Olives SA has taken the initiative to promote the use of extra virgin olive oil in school canteens. Now local olive oil producers must take the next step and help their local school canteen ensure a supply of extra virgin olive oil. Urge your local members to visit their local school canteen manager and help them to try and win in the Go For 2 + 5 Fruit and Vegetables Campaign’s School Canteen Competition.

The casks were packed by Olive Oil Packaging Service as their contribution to the project. This style of packaging is ideal to keep the extra virgin olive oil fresh to the last drop. Olive Oil Packaging Service can pack in a range of container sizes that are ideal for food service use such as in school canteens. Producers can contact Olive Oil Packaging Service to arrange packing of their olive oil ready for delivery to their local school canteen.

Keryn Gorman of Illalangi Olive Oil will donate a 10 litre cask (value $95) of extra virgin olive oil to the canteen that demonstrates the healthiest use of extra virgin olive oil in its meal preparation.
